Our Community

From our first 65 SF Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice – Lahaina shop in 2008 till today, Maui has been our home. Though we were born and raised on Oahu, the Maui community has welcomed us with open arms and supported our business. They’ve done this by coming to our shops, bringing their visiting out-of-town friends and family members, and referring those they meet to taste Maui’s best tasting shave ice at our shops. For over eleven (11) years, the people from Maui have been proud to say that they have, “The best tasting shave ice in the world” on their island.

Likewise, we at Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice have been touched and blessed by the outpouring of love for us, and our shave ice by our Maui community. We now support 120-150 team members (depending on the season). We provide great jobs that enable our staff to provide for themselves and their families. We help them achieve their goals and bring them a sense of pride. We strive to be the best first job for someone entering the work force for the first time and to be one of the best jobs that someone will ever remember. We help to develop communication skills, teach them to be dependable and reliable, to work with purpose as a team OR as an individual, and we encourage them to be the best version of themselves. They get used to working hard because what we do… is hard and demanding work. And we teach them to do ALL of this and to serve with Alohatude…the spirit of Aloha… with gratitude.

We have supported many causes throughout the years, as the need is deep in every part of a community on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We support cultural and school programs, church functions, community and special events, youth and sports clubs, the Arts, and music through many fundraising efforts.

Last year, our Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice and Sugar Beach Bake Shop team members voted on causes that we as a business would support together. This 2020 year, we will also support Malama Maui Nui, Imua Family Services, and Hale Makua – taking care of our island home, the keiki (children) and families in need, and our kupuna (elderly). This support will come in different forms, from group volunteer efforts, providing free shave ice for some of their fundraising efforts/events, and donations to their major fundraisers.

We at Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice are also proud to now say that as of July 2019, we serve with 100% Compostable and environmentally friendly bowls, straws, and spoons. We will continue to do our part to protect our Aina.

MAHALO, MAUI!
